Brady and I are a very game-oriented, competitive couple. We have a pile of games in our apartment, and can spend hours sitting down and challenging each other. It brings a lot of fun into our home, whether it is just the two of us playing, or friends come over to play with us. On the weekends, breakfast is often determined by the winner of a game and the loser has to make it. Games are fun. They make us laugh, create good memories, and bring out a good competitive nature between people. Except card games for us.
Last week, the card game was Egyptian Rat-Screw (what a name), and this week it is Nertz. When we first start playing we are laughing, but by the time the second game starts, our apartment is silent and all we want is to win. Maybe because card games are individual effort mixed with a lot of luck, but these games get heated.
Last night, we were playing Nertz and Brady won. As soon as he called, "NERTZ!" and slammed his last card on the pile, both his fist start punching the air above him. I know refer to this as the double-fist-pump. It is aggravating. I no longer want to see that double-fist-pump. I want to win.
Maybe we need to keep away from card games for a little while.
p.s. I just looked, there is an official Nertz website. That is funny.
